The client is seeking a Head of Sustainability and Net Zero to lead their new Sustainability Team in Liverpool. This senior leadership position will be responsible for developing and implementing city-wide sustainability strategies and programs to achieve Net Zero. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering the Council's Net Zero Carbon Plan and embedding sustainability across all aspects of city operations. They are looking for a strategic thinker with a strong track record in delivering sustainability outcomes in complex environments, capable of inspiring teams and influencing stakeholders.

As the Head of Sustainability and Net Zero, the individual will lead a team of specialists and work with internal departments, external partners, and communities to deliver innovative solutions for a low-carbon, climate-resilient city. The role will involve focusing on areas such as decarbonization of buildings, green energy, sustainable transport, waste reduction, climate adaptation, and community engagement. The candidate will also oversee major projects and programs aimed at achieving net zero emissions and advancing sustainability in Liverpool.

The ideal candidate will provide strategic leadership for sustainability and Net Zero initiatives, develop and implement policies aligned with climate goals, and manage complex projects and budgets effectively. They will champion social value and environmental justice, represent the Council at various forums, and build partnerships with government, industry, academia, and civil society.
