Nature Forward, formerly known as the Audubon Naturalist Society, is seeking an Executive Director to lead the organization in its mission to inspire residents of the greater Washington, DC, region to appreciate, understand, and protect their natural environment. The Executive Director will oversee all aspects of the organization, including community engagement, program development, fund development, and operational management. They will work collaboratively with the Board, staff, members, and partners to set a strategic approach for ongoing membership growth and engagement, maximizing impact in the Chesapeake Bay region and beyond. The ideal candidate will possess a dedication to supporting and diversifying the environmental movement, as well as strong leadership skills in empowering and collaborating with diverse teams.

Nature Forward has a deep commitment to diversifying its audience and membership, with successful programs focused on reaching historically marginalized communities. The Executive Director will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, enhancing operational capacity, diversifying the audience base, and advancing regional and national policy agendas. They will also be tasked with building and developing a cohesive staff, ensuring financial health, and serving as an advocate for the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strategic and visionary mindset, empowering and collaborative leadership skills, nonprofit business and operational acumen, and the ability to advocate and build relationships effectively. The salary range for this role is $200,000 - $225,000, including benefits.
