Description

The Vice President of Government Relations position at the client involves representing the bottled water industry before elected officials and regulators at the state and federal levels. Responsibilities include monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, coordinating government relations efforts, managing relationships with lobbyists, and overseeing the Political Action Committee. The ideal candidate will have at least ten years of experience in policy development and representation, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities of the role include providing comments on proposed legislation, organizing grassroots activities, working with regional bottled water associations, and contributing to association publications. The Vice President will also manage a budget of approximately $1M, develop the Government Relations section of the client Annual Business Plan, and liaise with various committees within the organization. While a BS/BA degree is required, an advanced degree is a plus. This is a remote position based in the DC region with minimal travel required.

The ideal candidate will have experience with sustainability and circular economy issues, food safety, health, and general knowledge of the food industry. They should be able to work effectively in a consensus-driven environment, build engagement across the industry, and lead coalitions. Strong leadership skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and achieve results in a dynamic environment are essential for success in this role.
