Sam Smith works primarily with software companies, and companies in other sectors facing technology transformation. His clients range from global market leaders to fast-growth, private equity-backed companies. Based in Chicago and San Francisco, he leads Russell Reynolds Associates’ Technology practice in the Americas and he often leads assignments across CEO succession, Board of Director, and CXO positions. Sam previously led the firm’s Product and Engineering practice. Sam joined Russell Reynolds Associates from a leading US management consulting and recruitment firm. In this role, he managed a portfolio of technology companies and focused on business development, strategic guidance, business process outsourcing, and trust and safety issues. Previously, Sam managed operations for Hugh & Crye, an e-commerce men’s apparel brand based in Washington, D.C. He began his career in social media development and legal work. Sam holds a BA in Political Communication from George Washington University and a JD from Georgetown University. He serves on the Board of the Young Leadership Division of the Jewish United Fund and is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association.
