The Director of Research Development position at our client involves leading a team dedicated to advancing large grants from conception to submission. Reporting to the Vice Provost and Dean for Basic Sciences and the Vice Provost and Senior Associate Dean for Clinical Research, the Director will collaborate with research leadership, administration, and faculty to submit multi-PI grants. Our client is a premier academic medical center with significant research funding and various departments, centers, and institutes on campus.
The Director will be responsible for organizing complex, team-based grants by identifying opportunities, convening faculty, and facilitating grant submissions. They will build a research development department to serve as project managers, editors, and collaborators to ensure cohesive and comprehensive grant proposals. The ideal candidate will have experience working with faculty in an academic or research setting, with a preference for a masters or doctoral degree in a scientific or healthcare-related field, journalism, or a related field. The Director of Research Development will have the opportunity to expand the reach of the position by supporting individual grant submissions as the team grows. They will need experience with extramural grants and contracts and be able to work effectively with faculty.
