The Director of Operations position at Friends of the Everglades is responsible for overseeing and enhancing internal administrative and operational functions. Reporting to the Executive Director, this role involves managing human resources, financial oversight, and compliance to ensure efficient and effective organizational systems. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with strong operational expertise, capable of coordinating with internal teams and service providers to support the client's mission and strategic objectives. This is an on-site role with some flexibility for candidates residing within commuting distance of Stuart, FL.

Key responsibilities include developing and enforcing employee management policies, overseeing recruitment processes, and managing benefits. The Director of Operations will collaborate with the Bookkeeper and Executive Director on budget development, grant tracking, and compliance processes. They will also lead the review and implementation of computer/software systems enhancements, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with nonprofit laws and regulations. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for this role, along with proficiency in modern computer systems and cybersecurity best practices.

Qualified candidates should have a Bachelor's degree, with a minimum of 5 years of professional operations experience, preferably within a nonprofit environment. Demonstrated expertise in human resources management, financial oversight, and administrative operations is required, along with the ability to manage complex projects and coordinate with diverse stakeholders. Experience with nonprofit compliance, governance, and regulatory requirements is also necessary for this role.
