Opportunity Details

The Director for Planned Giving at the client is responsible for increasing long-term planned giving revenue from individual donors by securing gifts from wills, trusts, beneficiary designations, and other giving vehicles. They manage a portfolio of planned giving prospects and donors, identifying strategic opportunities and implementing initiatives to cultivate, solicit, steward, and retain planned giving prospects. The Director also leads gift planning efforts within the client, serving as a fundraising liaison to museum-based fundraising teams, overseeing communications, managing the planned giving society, and hosting special events.
Candidates for this position should have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, with a minimum of 5 years of related experience in individual fundraising, particularly in planned gift cultivation and solicitation. Familiarity with the local funding community is a plus, and a Master's degree is desirable. The ideal candidate will have exceptional verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, commitment to customer service, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems is required, along with a flexible schedule that may include early mornings, late evenings, and weekends on occasion.
Key responsibilities of the Director for Planned Giving include developing and implementing planned giving strategies, maintaining marketing materials, stewarding planned giving donors and society members, managing a portfolio of prospects, collaborating with donor-facing team members, providing technical support on planned and deferred gifts, staying current on industry best practices, and attending professional groups and educational sessions to stay informed on trends in planned giving and major gifts.
