Opportunity Details

The client is seeking a Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) to join their team and lead their efforts in supporting pioneering discoveries in scientific and medical research. The CSO will work closely with the client's President, Co-Chairs, Co-Chief Executive Officers, Board of Directors, and scientific advisors to recommend grants and advance the Foundation's bold goals. The ideal candidate will have a broad interdisciplinary understanding of physical and life sciences, experience in peer-reviewed grant-making, and the ability to think broadly across scientific disciplines and take risks.
The CSO will be responsible for defining the client's scientific vision for the future, communicating complex scientific research to various stakeholders, mentoring and inspiring the team, and serving as an external ambassador for the Foundation. The client prides itself on identifying talent early and making risky scientific bets that prove transformational, with nine Foundation grantees having won the Nobel Prize. The CSO will have the opportunity to directly impact critical, groundbreaking research across fields and play a key role in shaping the future of the Foundation and its grant work.
