Opportunity Details

The client, a not-for-profit organization based in Boston, is seeking a Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) to lead their development strategy and propel the organization into the future. The organization, formerly known as Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center, is dedicated to providing free experiential learning programs to adolescents in the greater metropolitan Boston area. With a focus on outdoor education, character development, and academic achievement, the client aims to empower young people through challenge and discovery.
The CAO will work closely with the CEO and President to design and execute a comprehensive development strategy that aligns with the organization's new strategic plan. Responsibilities include assessing current development activities, building a high-net-worth donor portfolio, and growing the development operation to meet ambitious goals. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, team leader, and proven producer who can effectively communicate the mission of the client to both new and existing funders.
Located on a 204-acre nature preserve in the Boston Harbor Islands National and State Park, the client's main campus serves as an urban oasis for thousands of young people from Boston Public Schools. The CAO will have the opportunity to play a key role in fostering sustainable growth and impactful outcomes for Boston's youth, while maintaining relationships with long-standing donors and engaging new supporters in the organization's mission. Compensation for this position will be competitive, starting at $200,000.
