Description

The Chairperson will lead all Board meetings for the client, ensuring effective progress and time management. They will encourage active participation and collaboration among Board members, while also overseeing agenda and information management to ensure informed decision-making. The Chairperson will work with the Governance Director to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations, prioritizing governance responsibilities within the client.

In addition to overseeing external communications and advocacy efforts, the Chairperson will uphold the core mission and values of the client, ensuring that the voice and interests of service users remain central to decision-making. They will complete all mandatory volunteer training, provide regular updates on Chairperson responsibilities, and attend a majority of committee meetings. The Chairperson will only vote in the event of a tie among the Board of Directors, and will ensure that the client is fulfilling its charitable objectives and complying with charity law.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of governance standards, strategic thinking abilities, and excellent leadership and communication skills. They must be committed to the mission, values, and goals of the client, demonstrating accountability, responsibility, and diligence in all activities and decisions. The Chairperson will play a crucial role in ensuring the operational efficiency and legal compliance of the client, acting in the best interest of the organisation at all times.
