Appearance at the largest HR conference in Latin America

Peter Felix, president of the Association of Executive Search Consultants (AESC), recently delivered an important speech at Conarh, the largest HR conference in Latin America (and the 3rd largest in the world). Conarh (Congresso Nacional sobre Gestão de Pessoas / National Congress on the Management of People), brings together keynote speakers, an audience of 2,400 professionals and a large exposition area featuring many leading organizations in the HR space.

This year, Conarh adopted ‘O Novo’ or ‘The New’ as the theme for its 36th year in operation. It stood for the strong survival of Brazil through the economic crisis and the vast opportunities for growth Brazil now faces. As Peter Felix stated, “From the “country of the future” Brazil has become the “country of the present”. Alongside India and China, Brazil is regarded as one of the key global growth markets with predictions that within 10 to 15 years it will be the 5th largest economy in the world.”

Many speakers shared Peter Felix’s sentiments while highlighting that fast growth brings many challenges, especially concerning the development, acquisition and retention of executive talent in Brazil. However, as Peter Felix discussed, Executive Search can serve as a partner in tackling many problems faced by Brazil’s fast pace growth, such as the handling of corporate governance problems or attracting the large non-resident Brazilian Diaspora to return home.
 

All 15 Brazilian AESC member search firms, with over 50 search professionals, attended Conarh on Thursday 19th of August to support the AESC and represent the national presence of the retained executive search industry.

Peter Felix finished his speech with a clear message to the HR community – ‘Our profession looks forward to working as a strategic partner to you and your organizations in addressing the exciting challenges that lie ahead.’
