The Associate Vice President of Finance/University Controller position at the client is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the financial reporting process of the university. This includes managing system upgrades, grants, contracts, and fixed assets, as well as ensuring compliance with federal and state financial regulations. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance and Administration and CFO, the AVP will lead a team of finance professionals to optimize cash flow and support the university's financial stability and academic mission.
The AVP/University Controller will be in charge of all aspects related to the creation of financial statements, including system upgrades, quarterly reporting on audit findings, cost accounting, grants, contracts, and fixed assets. They will also lead the administrative effectiveness efforts for the Controllers department, attend staff meetings, assist with board reporting, and provide day-to-day support to various departments. With a budget of approximately $300 million and oversight of 47 full-time staff, the AVP will play a crucial role in ensuring financial compliance and strategic financial management to support the university's objectives.
As a member of the finance management team, the AVP/University Controller will work closely with the Vice President of Finance and Administration to develop internal controls, risk management protocols, and financial strategies. This position requires a seasoned financial leader with strong strategic insights and the ability to lead a team of finance professionals effectively. The AVP will contribute to the overall financial health of the university and help drive its academic mission forward through sound financial management practices.
