Description

The Midwest utility company is seeking an Associate General Counsel & Manager of State Regulatory Affairs to report to the VP of State and Federal Regulatory Affairs. This role involves leading and supervising a team of regulatory attorneys and paralegals in preparing and submitting regulatory agency applications, reports, and correspondence. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring consistency in all regulatory filings and communications, as well as building relationships with governmental agencies and stakeholders. The AGC will have 5 direct reports, including 3 attorneys and 2 paralegals, and must have at least 8 years of experience in regulatory affairs, preferably in the energy industry.

The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctorate degree and be admitted to at least one state bar. They should have experience managing staff and functional programs, as well as a deep understanding of state laws, legal codes, and government regulations. Strong communication skills, the ability to influence stakeholders, and a track record of meeting company objectives are also essential for this role.
