The exchange between the hiring companies and the MBA's was extremely positive

Representatives from the Association of Executive Search Consultants and BlueSteps attended the hugely successful Career Expo that attracted an extremely diverse range of attendees. Whilst the main focus for many of these MBA students was to secure those important internships and lucrative post-MBA positions, the BlueSteps team was able to offer career management advice and information on the executive search industry. We were consistently impressed by the MBA’s international experience and are in no doubt that these executives will rise to the top of their respective fields. Our confidence was shared by many hiring managers who attended the event in order to capture a share of the diverse and extremely capable talent pool.

In addition, a plethora of resume writers, career coaches and business school representatives were on hand to assist the job seekers during the career expo, while companies and public bodies such as IBM, Moody’s, Dell, FBI and CIA, conversed with many Asian MBA’s throughout the event. Macy’s even had their own room at the Expo! One highlight included a talk by Regina Angeles, ‘How LinkedIn, Facebook & Twitter are Replacing the Traditional Resume’. Her riveting presentation highlighted the transition of executive recruitment into the sphere of social media. However, do not be mistaken by the title - all the employers on the day required candidates to present a CV or resume; social media is an addition to, not a replacement for the CV or resume.

Towards the end of the Career Expo, one attendee said to the BlueSteps team after a talk about executive search and diversity, “Thank you for coming out to support the first ever Asian MBA event, it is truly remarkable how many sponsors are here at such an early stage.” We were equally impressed with the AMBA Conference and Career Expo, and hope it grows to the dizzying heights of their Black and Hispanic counterparts.
