The client, a survivor-led charity organization in Ireland, is seeking a trustee with Organisational and Strategic Development experience to join their Board. The client focuses on connecting survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence, supporting their healing, wellbeing, and growth through connection, self-advocacy, healing support, and empowerment. The current Board consists of individuals with expertise in various fields, and they are looking to expand and diversify their Board to bring in new skill sets and backgrounds. They are particularly interested in individuals with lived experience of domestic, sexual, and gender-based violence and abuse to shape their work and uphold their survivor-led ethos.
The trustee role is voluntary and involves complying with legal and regulatory requirements, providing strategic direction and oversight, managing assets, and upholding the organization's mission and values. Responsibilities for this role include contributing to strategic direction, setting measurable goals, supporting risk assessment and mitigation strategies, identifying new funding streams, and assisting in Board succession planning. Essential skills and qualities required for this role include a deep appreciation of the not-for-profit sector, commitment to the organization's mission and survivor-led ethos, strategic planning experience, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
As a trustee, you will participate in Board meetings and play a key role in shaping the organization's strategic direction, ensuring compliance, transparency, and accountability, and monitoring organizational performance.
