The role of Trustee with Lived Experience of Domestic Abuse or Sexual Violence is a voluntary position with general duties including compliance with legal requirements, providing strategic direction, and managing the client's assets. Responsibilities for this role include bringing survivor voice and insight to Board discussions, upholding the survivor-led ethos, and contributing to the development of survivor-informed policies and programs. Essential skills and qualities required for this role include a deep understanding of the client's mission, a survivor-responsive approach, and a passion for supporting survivors in their healing and growth.
The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong commitment to supporting survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence, lived experience in these areas, and a readiness to draw on that experience to inform and strengthen the client's survivor-led work. They will work collaboratively with other Board members to guide the strategic direction of the charity and ensure that survivor voices are represented in all aspects of governance and advocacy.
