Based in Munich, Thorsten is a senior member of the Industrial, Energy and Natural Resources Sector and co-leads the firm’s Chemicals, Materials and Packaging Practice globally. He is also a member of our Board & CEO Advisory Partners Sector, as well as the Operations & Supply Chain Practice. Recently, Thorsten has specialized in executive search work for private equity firms and their portfolio companies. He is also involved in leadership advisory projects, including executive assessment and strategic succession projects. Thorsten helps his clients find the best-suited leadership talent to face their business and culture challenges, including digital transformation. Recent engagements include searches for senior executives and non-executive supervisory and advisory board members. Executive roles have included CEO, CFO, COO, CTO, CMO/CSO, general management, strategy, operational and commercial leadership roles. Prior to joining Russell Reynolds Associates, Thorsten worked at chemical corporation Clariant for several years, where he was Global Head of Sales and Key Account Management. He was also responsible for building the company’s commercial excellence function. Previously, Thorsten held leadership roles at Süd-Chemie AG for seven years, as Head of the Energy and Environment Business Unit and Head of Corporate Development. Earlier in his career, Thorsten was a Management Consultant with the Boston Consulting Group, based in Stuttgart. Thorsten received a master’s degree in chemistry and earned a PhD in polymer chemistry, both from the University of Freiburg in Germany.
