Richard taps into the extensive network of contacts and association global lessons gained through his role in developing Marriott’s senior leadership team, as well as his contemporaneous service with a variety of leadership-focused organizations. He has been active with the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), Destination International (DI) and others. His deep involvement in such groups led to roles as board member and chairman of numerous committees. He is a graduate of the University of Denver School of Hotel and Restaurant Management and has chaired the school’s Alumni Board of Directors. His wide-ranging intellectual interests also have driven his success as a business entrepreneur, pioneer in the use of social media and thought leader in the emerging field of destination branding.
