About Ms. Charney

Rachel Charney, MD, a seasoned healthcare professional, brings a wealth of expertise spanning the entire operational landscape of healthcare. Her extensive experience in preparedness initiatives has positioned her at the forefront of engaging with various facets of hospital leadership. Dr. Charney places a distinct emphasis on fostering collaborative relationships not only among healthcare operational groups but also between healthcare entities and the communities they serve. Dr. Charney’s searches are national in scope. She focuses on identifying clinical and nonclinical leaders in academic medical centers. With a clinical career spanning over 20 years, Dr. Charney is experienced in clinical and operational research and educational medicine. She is dual board-certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Her clinical experience has been tenured at Saint Louis Children’s Hospital and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. Dr. Charney maintained a secondary appointment in the Saint Louis University School of Public Health and served as the Medical Director for Disaster Preparedness at Saint Louis University SOM and Cardinal Glennon, where she provided expertise in operational contingencies and optimal patient care in natural and man-made disasters She was a trusted contributor to operational continuity for a four-state healthcare system during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as driving disaster operations for a multi-hospital medical practice. Dr. Charney is a published researcher in basic and clinical fields and an experienced national public speaker. Dr. Charney’s residency in Pediatrics and fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine were both completed at Washington University.
