Opportunity Details
the client seeks a President to lead its next chapter. The organization is a member-supported nonprofit founded in 1981 that permanently protects New Jerseys lands, waters, forests, and farms through conservation, stewardship, and education. The President will help advance goals to protect additional acreage and expand the clients statewide impact, working closely with staff, the board, and a broad coalition of partners.
The ideal candidate brings relationship-driven fundraising, strong financial oversight, and a collaborative approach to leading and developing staff. The President will communicate clearly, translate technical topics for varied audiences, and partner effectively with boards and external stakeholders. Executive-level achievement in conservation, policy, law, or a related field is required, with nonprofit management experience preferred.
A bachelors degree is required, with an advanced degree preferred, along with a genuine connection to nature and comfort working in a hybrid environment. The President role supports conservation and education efforts, including stewardship of preserves and promotion of equitable access through partnerships. Applications are handled confidentially through an external search firm, with materials typically submitted in a resume and cover letter format by the stated deadline.
