Peter Gonye leads the global relationship development for Spencer Stuart’s Financial Services Practice. He is also a core member of the firm’s CEO, Financial Officer and North American Board practices. Peter previously served as co-leader of both the Private Equity and Global Banking & Markets practices in North America. Broad-based financial and executive search experience Peter is actively engaged in chief executive officer and board search as well as advisory assignments pertaining to succession, executive assessment, retention, professional development and compensation. He has been quoted in a variety of business periodicals and journals on leadership topics, and has appeared as a guest on several television programs. Within financial services, Peter has conducted numerous chief executive officer and senior-level recruitments for leading U.S. financial services firms, financial regulatory agencies, government-sponsored entities and federal government institutions. In the alternative investments arena, he has led a variety of senior-level executive searches and senior advisory recruitments for several of the largest private equity firms and hedge funds. Prior to entering executive search, Peter spent a decade in investment banking, primarily at Lehman Brothers. His clients ranged from U.S. and global Fortune 100 companies to emerging growth businesses. During that time, he completed nearly 100 public, private equity and debt financings, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and leveraged buyouts. He rendered numerous valuations and fairness opinions, and he conducted a variety of other financial advisory and corporate governance assignments. Peter received an M.B.A. with distinction from Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management and graduated cum laude from Williams College.
