About Mr. Rooney

Patrick is an executive search thought leader and practitioner with nearly 20 years’ experience in the industry globally and locally. One of Patrick’s many accomplishments and contributions to the profession has been leading the conversation on quality standards for executive search across Asia Pacific. Patrick’s role as Associate Director at Sheffield is focused on partnering with clients in public and private sectors to appoint key talent. Prior to working for Sheffield, Patrick was the Asia Pacific and Middle East Managing Director for the Association of Executive Search and Leadership Consultants (AESC). In this role, he worked for the advancement of the profession globally and was responsible for managing key stakeholder relationships as well as designing and delivering professional development programs and events across multiple geographies. Patrick has worked in a variety of higher education, government, non-government, and executive search roles in Aotearoa. He was a lead consultant at a firm focused on higher education appointments in New Zealand, Australia, and Asia. Prior to this, he was responsible for the approval process for undergraduate programs at Unitec New Zealand. Patrick also worked in the office of the Minister of Statistics, Women’s Affairs, and Youth Affairs. At university he was the President of the Massey University Students’ Association and became President of the New Zealand University Students Association. In his spare time, Patrick enjoys cooking, train travel, and cycling especially around the forests, hills, and villages of the Central North Island.
