The client is seeking a Director of Data Science to lead and expand an enterprise-level data science function, with a focus on investment strategy, portfolio performance, and advanced analytics. The role involves utilizing data science, machine learning, and Generative AI to create value across a large, multi-brand ecosystem. The individual will own the vision, execution, and development of the data science function, collaborating with senior leaders in strategy, engineering, product, and investment teams to deliver commercial due diligence, forecasting, pricing, experimentation, marketing analytics, and Generative AI tooling solutions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and growing the Data Science team, establishing technical standards and best practices, and defining long-term strategies and architectures for applied data science. The role requires collaboration with investment and portfolio teams to enhance predictive modeling and value creation, as well as driving the adoption and impact of Generative AI and agentic workflows. Additionally, the Director will oversee the full model lifecycle from initial problem framing to production deployment and translate complex analytics into clear insights for senior executives. This position involves both hands-on technical work and strategic leadership.
Applicants should have over 10 years of experience in applied data science or machine learning, with strong skills in Python and SQL and a proven track record of deploying models in production environments. The ideal candidate will have experience in leading and expanding technical teams, along with expertise in forecasting, experimentation, pricing, and causal analysis. Strong business judgment and excellent executive communication skills are essential. Preferred qualifications include exposure to consumer or retail sectors, multi-brand environments, private equity or consulting experience, and an advanced degree. A perspective on how Generative AI tools are transforming data science workflows is also desirable.
