Description

The client is seeking a seasoned Legislative Director for Courts, Justice, & Administrative Law to oversee federal legislative and administrative advocacy concerning court integrity, the justice system, and administrative law. This leadership role involves direct lobbying, coalition engagement, and team management within the Policy and Legislation division. The director will represent the client before Congress, the Administration, and the public, while leading a small team and collaborating with litigators and organizational leaders to advance the client's mission.

The director will implement federal legislative and advocacy strategies related to court and justice system reforms. Responsibilities include lobbying Congress and Administration officials, educating policymakers on legal developments, recommending organizational positions, and maintaining relationships with key decision-makers. The director will oversee the creation of advocacy and educational materials, plan advocacy events, and seek opportunities to advance federal legislative and regulatory policies. An active presence in justice policy communities and serving as a spokesperson on relevant topics is essential.

Internal coordination and management tasks involve strategic planning, budgeting, and fundraising support. The director will lead and mentor a team, fostering an inclusive and collaborative culture. They will coordinate with litigation, policy, and communications leaders to develop advocacy strategies and occasionally substitute for the Vice President of Policy and Legislation. The role includes hiring and supervising staff, fostering collaboration, and providing advocacy coaching and mentoring.
