Laura Preng is a Partner in our Houston office. She joined Preng & Associates in 2011 after working several years for another energy recruiting firm and has led executive and board level searches across various sectors of the energy industry. Most recently, Ms. Preng has partnered with clients to deliver talent solutions for senior operational, financial, legal, and business development roles in the oil and gas, renewables, and industrial sectors. Prior to entering the search industry, Ms. Preng spent twelve years honing her interviewing skills as a television news reporter and anchor for the CBS affiliate in Jackson, Mississippi, and the NBC affiliate in Nashville, Tennessee. As a reporter, Ms. Preng covered politics and breaking news stories and was recognized by the Associated Press, including awards for best investigative and spot news. Ms. Preng was named as one of Hart Energy’s 2025 Influential Women in Energy and is a member of the NACD Tri-Cities Chapter Advisory Board (since 2017). She also serves as a Board Director for the Women’s Energy Network Houston Chapter and the Houston Producers Forum. Ms. Preng is a certified Hogan Assessment administrator and attended the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University in New York where she graduated with honors in Broadcast Journalism.
