Hazel Blackhart is a consultant in Spencer Stuart’s Healthcare Practice, focusing on recruiting board directors and C-suite leaders across functions for biotech and pharma sectors, including commercial, business, corporate strategy, legal and HR. She brings over 20 years of biopharma experience, with positions at Genentech/Roche, Seagen and BeiGene, spanning commercial, global strategy, marketing, sales, legal, compliance, technical operations/manufacturing and procurement. She has partnered with stakeholders ranging from early pipeline/clinical development to commercialization. Hazel is driven to support the important work of healthcare organizations to positively impact patients’ lives and treatment outcomes, and to enable clients to achieve their most important goals through great leadership, diversity and organizational health. Discovering and developing leadership for a better future in healthcare Hazel led the strategic commercial business operations and planning teams at Seagen during the growth of the company from a single product to a portfolio of four therapies, and at BeiGene during a time of rapid growth. As a Meta strategy and operations lead, Hazel served internal stakeholders at Facebook, Instagram and What’s App, leveraging her commercial and operations skills to strategically enable her clients to meet key results. With over 16 years at Genentech/Roche, Hazel held roles in technical operations, legal, global strategy, biooncology, communications and commercial, partnering with leaders to develop LRP, AOP, budget management, talent and inclusive cultures. Hazel earned a Bachelor of Science in psychobiology with a minor in economics from University of California, Davis, and a J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law.
