The University at Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning is seeking a Professor and Fellow for the newly endowed Rudy Bruner Center for Urban Excellence. The ideal candidate will be an Advanced Associate or Full Professor with tenure in the Department of Regional and Urban Planning, starting in August 2023. This individual will serve as the RBC Director of Research, collaborating with various partners within the university to further develop and implement research and sponsored program agendas. Responsibilities include expanding the research profile of the department, fostering collaborative relationships, and enhancing educational programming. The position is an 11-month appointment with teaching, research, and service duties, as well as dedicated time for educational, strategic, and research initiatives.
The Rudy Bruner Center for Urban Excellence promotes innovative thinking and conversation about the role of design in cities. Building on the work of the Rudy Bruner Award for Urban Excellence, the Center seeks to share inspiring stories of urban development to increase understanding of creating beautiful, just, and resilient places. The Center will offer a platform for ongoing inquiry and exchange about the built environment and cities, engaging a diverse audience through publications, awards, research, and educational programming. With a five-million-dollar endowment and anticipated grant awards, the Center is in the early stages of development, focusing on managing a curated RBA Collection and running programs aligned with its mission and vision.
