Bthar, a charity focused on providing livestock and training to families in developing countries, is seeking a Finance Trustee to join their board. The Finance Trustee will be responsible for shaping the financial strategy of the organization, ensuring long-term financial sustainability, and supporting Bthar's mission. Key responsibilities include providing financial expertise at the board level, understanding not-for-profit financial management, ensuring governance and compliance, and collaborating with the CEO on financial oversight.
The ideal candidate for the Finance Trustee role will be a qualified accountant with extensive board experience, either in executive or non-executive capacities. They should have a strong understanding of not-for-profit financial operations and be able to guide the organization towards financial sustainability while ensuring compliance with sector-specific requirements. The Finance Trustee will also be responsible for upholding adherence to SORP standards, maintaining transparency, accountability, and regulatory compliance in all financial practices.
In addition to financial expertise, the ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders, including the CEO, Chairperson, and fellow board members. Previous experience in a board role is highly desirable for this position. The Finance Trustee will work closely with the CEO to oversee management accounts, internal control compliance, and provide strategic guidance on funding challenges and operational costs to ensure organizational stability.
