Executive Director. the client is a youth soccer organization founded in 1982, serving thousands of young athletes and families across Lower Manhattan and beyond. The organization provides pathways for players ages 3 through 19 to develop technical skills, confidence, and a lifelong love of the game in an inclusive, community-centered environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and personal growth.
The client operates approximately 4,400 players annually across Competitive and Community programming and is seeking experienced leadership to strengthen operational execution and financial position during a transitional period, particularly within the Competitive program. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure exceptional soccer programming while fostering a positive, inclusive, mission-driven culture. The Executive Director will oversee organizational strategy, financial sustainability, fundraising and sponsorship development, staff leadership, community partnerships, and operational systems, partnering with the Board and staff to shape the long-term vision, strengthen infrastructure, enhance player development pathways, and ensure a high-quality experience for every player and family.
Key responsibilities include delivering strategic leadership and vision aligned to mission and long-term goals; partnering with the Board to develop and execute strategic priorities and operational plans; leading and supporting a high-performing team while fostering accountability, collaboration, inclusion, and professional growth; overseeing budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and long-term sustainability planning; expanding and diversifying revenue through fundraising, sponsorships, partnerships, grants, and earned-income opportunities; serving as a visible ambassador within the soccer community and the broader city; strengthening relationships with players, families, alumni, coaches, and donors; overseeing operational systems such as registration, scheduling, communications, staffing, facilities coordination, and vendor management; advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility across programs and organizational culture; and supporting Board engagement and governance through effective communication.
