The client is seeking a new Editor-in-Chief for the American Journal of Public Health (AJPH). The EiC will be responsible for providing leadership, maintaining high academic standards, and contributing to the journal's history. The AJPH, founded by the client in 1911, aims to advance public health research, policy, practice, and education. The EiC will work with an Editorial Board to oversee the journal's functions, establish policies, and ensure quality and integrity.
APHA, with over 25,000 members, is the largest organization of public health professionals globally. The organization advocates for public health issues backed by science and works towards achieving health equity and improving public health infrastructure. The AJPH, celebrating its 115th anniversary in 2025, publishes original research, research methods, and program evaluations in public health. The journal's vision is to be a comprehensive source of public health information, promoting editorial independence, social justice, and diverse public health viewpoints.
The EiC position requires innovative and inspiring leadership to maintain the journal's high academic standards and continue its legacy. The successful candidate will work with the Editorial Board to define the journal's vision, strategic plan, and annual priorities. With an impact factor of 9.600 in 2024, AJPH aims to provide timely, accessible, and useful public health information. The EiC will play a crucial role in upholding the journal's journalistic values and ensuring the publication's continued success in advancing public health research, policy, and practice.
