Description

The client is seeking a Director of Science and Research to join their team. The Director will be responsible for monitoring water research activities in government, industry, and academia, recommending association involvement in relevant projects, and managing the work of science and research consultants and advisors. They will also serve as a staff liaison for research projects initiated by various committees and task forces, assist in writing and editing publications, and present project findings to stakeholders. Additionally, the Director will negotiate contracts for research activities, oversee the work of technical consultants, and serve as a liaison to industry, government, trade associations, and academia.

The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of experience in environmental science, engineering, biochemistry, chemistry, toxicology, microbiology, physiology, or related disciplines. Experience within a trade association is preferred but not required, with industry or government experience in food, beverages, or water being desirable. Knowledge of FDA food regulations, USEPA drinking water regulations, and health-based food or water standards development is beneficial. Strong communication, customer service, presentation, project management, and time management skills are required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline is required, with a Master's or Ph.D. being a plus.

Overall, the Director of Science and Research will play a crucial role in advancing the client's mission to be the leading voice for the bottled water industry and its commitment to safety and availability. They will be responsible for overseeing research projects, managing consultants, and serving as a liaison to various stakeholders in the industry.
