Description

The Director of Philanthropy plays a crucial role in advancing the client's fundraising strategy by fostering and expanding relationships with individual donors and philanthropic partners. This position is tasked with cultivating individual donors, managing fundraising campaigns, engaging donors, and activating volunteers to build a global community of supporters. Working closely with leadership, this role involves translating the client's mission into meaningful philanthropic partnerships. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement based in New York City, with flexibility for remote work and requiring travel to engage with donors in North America and Europe, as well as occasional trips to Burundi.

The core responsibilities include managing and growing a portfolio of individual donors and prospects through personalized engagement strategies, including meetings and updates. The Director will track donor engagement and giving patterns, develop cultivation and stewardship strategies, and ensure donors receive thoughtful updates on their impact. Additionally, this role leads and supports fundraising campaigns aligned with the client's strategic priorities, identifies opportunities for fundraising initiatives, expands donor pipelines, and develops fundraising strategies with clear goals.

The role also involves planning and organizing donor events to deepen understanding of the client's mission, coordinating volunteer and network engagement activities, and collaborating with various teams to ensure effective donor communication and content. Further responsibilities include supporting skilled volunteer contributions, acknowledging gifts timely, and providing strategic input to the client's overall fundraising efforts. This position demands a relationship-driven approach to build long-term partnerships that support transformational change.
