The client is seeking a Director to provide strategic, operational, and executive leadership for public arts and cultural initiatives. The role supports artists, cultural organizations, residents, and visitors by guiding the development of programs, policies, and initiatives, and by helping shape the future direction of the Departments arts work through a strategic plan developed in partnership with key stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include overseeing competitive grantmaking and related support such as technical assistance and professional development; administering multiple grant programs to invest public resources across disciplines, geographies, and communities; and leading the Art in Public Places program, including commissioning, curating, maintaining, and promoting a large collection of public artworks. The Director also provides leadership for major County cultural facilities and advances arts education, accessibility, and community engagement initiatives that serve large numbers of children and residents each year with an emphasis on equity and inclusion.
The Director will work closely with partner advisory and governance groups, executive leadership, philanthropic partners, and community stakeholders to steward public resources and promote cultural innovation.
