Description

The client is seeking a dynamic leader for the Chair position of the Department of Implementation Science within the Division of Public Health Sciences. The Chair will provide strategic leadership and direction for all aspects of the department, including research and educational activities, and will set and advance a shared departmental vision. This role emphasizes building and expanding the department’s scope while leveraging the talents of a diverse group of faculty and staff during a period of significant growth.

The department’s mission focuses on advancing the adoption, integration, and sustainability of evidence-based practices in real-world settings to improve population health. Work is organized across core areas including health services research to identify care delivery opportunities and address organizational, health system, and policy-level gaps; intervention optimization to support efficacious, cost-effective, and time-neutral implementation approaches; and strategy testing to translate evidence into routine clinical and population health practice. The department includes a multidisciplinary team with expertise spanning pragmatic, hybrid, and adaptive trial designs; contextual analysis; community-engaged research and co-design; ethnography; program evaluation; cost-effectiveness and cost-of-implementation analyses; and the application of implementation science theories, models, and frameworks.

The role is expected to cultivate an academic culture grounded in fairness and a just, equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment for members, trainees, and affiliates. Required qualifications include a terminal degree in fields such as health policy, sociology, psychology, public health, implementation science, or a related area, along with demonstrated leadership and management skills. The client expects an established research investigator with demonstrated active scholarly productivity in implementation science sufficient to qualify for appointment at the rank of tenured Associate Professor or Professor, which is strongly preferred, and the ability to advance the department toward next-phase priorities in areas such as academic learning health systems, pragmatic clinical trials, patient-centered outcomes, embedded research, and real-world implementation opportunities.
