The client is seeking a Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Bowie State University. This position reports directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and will oversee undergraduate and graduate programs within the college. The dean will be responsible for supervising academic department chairs, advancing curricular development, assessment, and program advancement. The ideal candidate will have a doctorate in a related field, a strong record as a scholar and educator, and significant academic and leadership experience.
Bowie State University, founded in 1865, is Maryland's oldest Historically Black College or University and is part of the University System of Maryland. With a diverse student body and faculty, BSU is located in a metropolitan area near Washington, DC, Baltimore, and Annapolis. The dean will be responsible for budget preparation, faculty recruitment, faculty development, and serving as a liaison with area leaders. The successful candidate will have a clear understanding of and commitment to the role of HBCUs in educating future leaders.
