The client is seeking a Chief Innovation Officer (CINO) to lead the innovation and commercialization efforts across The Texas A&M University System. The CINO will be responsible for shaping and implementing a bold vision to establish the A&M System as a leader in innovation. With a statewide network of universities, health science centers, and research campuses, the CINO will have the opportunity to leverage resources and partnerships to drive breakthroughs in various fields such as engineering, agriculture, and national defense.
Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Research, the CINO will oversee all aspects of the commercialization pathway, including invention disclosure, IP protection, licensing, and startup formation. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in transforming early discoveries into commercial success and experience in a research-intensive university or large institution. Strong business acumen and the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders will be crucial for success in this role.
The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with the ability to outline clear business plans and measurable milestones to drive innovation and commercialization goals. The CINO will lead a high-impact team, broaden inventor engagement, and elevate the A&M System's profile as a national innovation hub.
