The client is seeking a Chief Advancement Officer to lead fundraising efforts for Penn Medicine, a key component of the University of Pennsylvania. Reporting to the Dean of the Perelman School of Medicine and the Vice President for Penn Development and Alumni Relations, the CAO will oversee a team of 160 employees and manage a significant operating budget. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative advancement programs, enhancing volunteer engagement, and strengthening collaboration between Penn Medicine DAR and affiliated hospitals.
The ideal candidate for this role will have a deep track record of success in leading fundraising teams in a complex environment. They will be expected to serve as an effective partner to key university leaders, inspire their team to meet aggressive goals, and engage the broader Penn Medicine community in philanthropy efforts. The CAO will be tasked with developing strategies to support the strategic plan of Penn Medicine, bolstering fundraising infrastructure, and growing support for basic science fundraising opportunities. Additionally, they will be responsible for enhancing volunteer engagement, building partnerships with key faculty and academic leaders, and empowering team members to achieve their goals.
