The client is seeking an Associate General Counsel (AGC) with expertise in real estate to join their team in New York, NY. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, the AGC will be responsible for overseeing legal matters related to mortgage REITs, securities transactions, financing structures, and corporate governance. The role will involve ensuring compliance with SEC, FINRA, FinCEN, and CFTC regulations, managing bank relationships, and overseeing mortgage and asset transactions.
The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school and be admitted to practice law in New York. They should have 5-7 years of legal experience, including 4+ years at a top-tier law firm, with in-house experience in mortgage REITs, banking, or structured finance being a plus. Strong knowledge of structured finance, mortgage-backed securities, capital markets, and financial services law is required, along with experience in securitizations, ISDA agreements, and regulatory compliance.
